A small crowd of demonstrators gathered outside the offices of Fox News on 4/3 to denounce that station's slavishly pro-war news coverage. The crowd said that "Fox is a voicebox for Pentagon propaganda, excludes anti-war voices and doesn't show the tragic human toll on Iraqi civilians." More w/photos

Fox is best known for its extraordinarily reactionary commentators and hosts. One example is Bill O'Reilly, host of the O'Reilly Factor, who is well known for making one ludicrous claim after another. He once told the Washington Post that, "We're the only show from a working-class point of view." The right-wing has a long tradition of incorporating the working class into its ideology and governments. Read more from FAIR

Clear Channel, the gargantuan corporation that controls much of the airwaves in the US, has been using its clout to promote what it describes as "patriotic" rallies. Spearheaded by syndicated talk radio host Glenn Beck, the rallies have their advertisements and musicians paid for by the corporation, fostering the illusion that they've sprung forth from a groundswell of pro-war activism. Emergencies protests in San Francisco have been going on since Wednesday night with no sign of slowing down. People gathered on the streets as soon as news reached us that Iraq was being bombed. Resistance and outrage is growing against the capitalist system that keeps many people in this country homeless and without basic needs like health care and food, while attacking other countries to amass power and resources for the wealthy. Bay Area activists succeeded in shutting down the city on Thursday and a good part of Friday. Much police misconduct and brutality was witnessed on 3/21, including arresting people for standing on the sidewalk and beating people. There are massive protests planned throughout the weekend and into Monday.

Dictator Saddam Hussein's defector son-in-law's told the United Nations that Iraq "had destroyed its entire stockpile of chemical and biological weapons and banned missiles." The US government's campaign of dirty tricks was exposed in the European press, but ignored by the US corporate media. The FBI's own tell of a possible increase in terror attacks in the US after a war in Iraq starts. Despite these well-known facts, the US government and corporate media have already started the war on Iraq. In Turkey the military has overruled parliament and US troops are now massing on the Iraqi border. On the Kuwait-Iraq Border, fences have been cut and UN "peace keepers" have reported that US Marines are violating the demilitarized zone. US Military officials openly admit that "U.S. special operations forces are inside several areas of Iraq" as US and British bombings of Iraq escalate

The US government needs this war. A message must be sent to its obstructionist allies that obedience to the US policies and politics is the only option. But the people of the world must realize that standing with the government of the US is not the same as standing with the people of the US.
