In 2001 Mayor Appezatto got advice from other City Mayors telling him that they regret erecting huge parking structures downtown, that they usually aren't necessary, but always pushed for by developers. They told him that parking garage will destroy a City's Civic Center. Last week, the Board of Supervisors Finance Committee voted to cut back
proposed increases in parking fees and fines, taking $4.4 million away
from Muni service and preventative maintenance and handing it back to
car drivers....

"Last year, after Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed four bills that would have allowed Californians to buy cheaper prescription drugs from Canada, Johnson and Johnson contributed almost $50,000 to defeat the measure. The "liberal" Democrats, Supervisors Tom Ammiano and Jake McGoldrick demonstrated their reactionary colors with their support of the "newly" found $9.2 million to go toward reducing parking fines & fees and not reducing bus fares. In Ammiano's District 9 in November 2004, the voters could have chosen socialists Steve Zeltzer or Lucrecia Bermudez or Green Party Renee Saucedo, but they chose Democrat Ammiano and they got the Democrat they voted for....
