Casamance River’s Native Rice Bonds Sacred Traditions
African red rice (Oryza glabberima) is adapted to the region of the Casamance River in Senegal and other river deltas. Imported corporate agribusiness Asian rice could be introducing GE/GMO strains into the region's people and ecosystem, also driving the local farmers out of the market.
