Campaign Filings Show Landlords Provide 83% of Funding Prop 98
Tuesday, March 25, 2008 : According to new campaign reports filed yesterday with the Secretary of State's office, more than 83% of funding in support of Proposition 98 comes from apartment and mobile home park landlords and the associations that represent them. Hidden in the fine print of Prop 98 are provisions that would eliminate rent control and other renter protections....

Perhaps it's too early to venture an opinion on this but my instinct says this is a really stupid idea. Why? Well, for one thing, the reasons bicyclists get cited for traffic violations in the first place only makes sense if you accept the premise that roads are mainly for automobiles and bicycles are an equivalent technology....

Calhoun Targets the Homeless
Fresno City Council member Brian Calhoun is targeting homeless people with another unnecessary “quality of life” ordinance. Calhoun wants to stop homeless people from asking for money on street medians. In his introduction to the ordinance, Calhoun writes that “Fresno Police records will show that the panhandlers are most often alcoholics, drug addicts or have mental health issues.”...
