Since both attempts at public power through elections were stopped by PG&E - the first time by literally throwing votes in the bay - let's shift to direct action: organize a citywide ratepayer strike, together with a reconnection committee to keep the power on....

San Francisco Swerves To The Right
In a sign of how far this city has fallen, San Francisco voters voted for N and against O. Public power was defeated and Newsom got almost 80% of the Marina vote. While many on the left keep repeating that it was obvious N would pass and we shouldn't feel too bad, what does this say about San Francisco?...

Rent Control & District Elections Prevail in SF
The best news from San Francisco is that the foundation of the entire progressive community of San Francisco, namely rent control, has been successfully defended with the defeat of Prop R, the Rent Control Repeal measure, with 60% voting No. Prop R was by far the most important measure on the San Francisco ballot because if Prop R had passed, the workingclass and its progressive vote would have left San Francisco....

Prop R Defeated; Prop N Passes
San Francisco is often thought of as a progressive city, but the passage of Prop. N, cutting aid to homeless people to $59 with no guarantee of services, should make it clear that San Francisco is still very much a part of the United States....

SF: High Voter Turnout Slows Count
A higher than expected voter turnout has slowed the count. Insufficient cards were delivered to some polling places and are being delivered. Those who were in line before 8 p.m. are being allowed to vote. After they vote, San Francisco results will start to change....
