Iraqi Peace Activist Forced to Change T-Shirt Bearing Arabic Script Before Boarding Plane
On a trip back from the Middle East, Iraqi blogger and activist Raed Jarrar was not allowed to board a flight at JFK airport because he was wearing a T-Shirt that said "We will not be silent" in English and Arabic. Representatives of Jet Blue Airways forced him to change his T-Shirt saying wearing it was like "going to a bank with a T-Shirt reading 'I am a robber.'"...

I just came back from a short trip to Jordan and Syria. The trip to Syria was so fast, but I managed to visit some Lebanese refugee camps. I am so impressed by the Syrian people's generosity in receiving Lebanese refugees. The Syrian government didn't even have to send food or supplies to the refugees because of the overwhelming grassroots support. Two more dead in the Bayview Hunters Point area in broad daylight
Two more dead in broad daylight in the Bayview right on 3rd Street. In the morning you see foot patrol for a few hours but then they take a hike. Two young men dead because of turf war and this brings the total to 58. The SF Police Department and the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) under Allen Nance must reveal the name of the dead so far on the MOCJ website. The MOCJ has been talking the talk but cannot walk the walk....

Sikh Grandfather Stabbed in Hate Crime
A Santa Clara Sikh man was the victim of a July 30 stabbing that authorities allege was a hate crime. The incident comes on the heels of a recent spike in hate crimes in the surrounding areas of this San Francisco Bay Area county. On average, five hate crimes are reported each month in Santa Clara County, but 13 such crimes were reported in June, according to the local Network for a Hate-Free Community....
