4/2: Hundreds of people marched through downtown Berkeley to in solidarity with Palestinians under continued attack by the IDF (Isreali Defense Forces). The procession culminated at the freeway entrance on University & 6th Sts, effectively blocking traffic for several hours. Police deliberately showered several protesters in the face with pepper spray and, for no apparent reason, seized one woman into custody. She was freed a half hour later, as the crowd angrily agitated for her release. Supporters are asked to attend her hearing on April 23 at 2pm (2120 MLK Dept. 201) to demand that any charges be dropped. Report Photos: 1 | 2 Videos: 1 2 3

Moreover, there have been demonstrations and solidarity actions worldwide, from DC to Baghdad, and Italy to Dublin, all against Israeli aggression and for justice in Palestine. The Israeli Defense Forces' bombardment and attack on Palestinian Authority leader Yasser Arafat's compound and witnessed policy of execution, coupled with 5 suicide bombings by Palestinians in the past 4 days, has ratcheted up the level of repression by the IDF and the sense of urgency and resistance on the part of Palestinians. 3/30 report | video

1/11: As the Enron organized crime scandal keeps accelerating out of control, the Bush Oil Cartel is faced with startling accusations into their co-operation with fundamentalist terrorists. On 1/8, a delegation demanding a Congressional inquiry into the cause of the 9/11 events gathered at Justin Heman Plaza and then proceeded up Market Street for a meeting with Senator Feinstein's staff. As the US corporate media persists in its failure to question the government's assessment of the responsible parties, there is a critical need for further investigation into the relationships between the suspected terrorist group, the Bush family, the CIA, and Pakistani and Saudi Intelligence. Middle Eastern activists confront the racism and being marginalized in the peace movement. "Instead of just feeling sorry for us and only wanting to go on the street and scream that you are fighting for us, please I beg of you to come visit some of us, talk to some of us, and if you can learn of our history ... Involve us, don't fear us." After declining Palestinian resistance groups' joint offer to suspend attacks within Israel, Sharon has continued to order military actions against Palestinian targets. Berkeley students gathered in solidarity with Palestinians, as escalating violence and retribution by Israel propels the situation towards civil war. The Sharon government has its eyes on the prize: permanent occupation. For the last few weeks, Israel has maintained a state of siege over Palestinian-controlled areas. Despite pressure from the US and EU to ease up, Israel escalated its assassination tactics, resulting in the death of five Palestinian children and Hamas leader Abu Hannoud. Israel faced the expected retaliation when bombs exploded in Jerusalem and Haifa, killing 26 people. Sharon has now adopted George Bush's "terrorism" rhetoric and is quickly moving towards a situation which can only create more hatred, death and violence. On 11/13, the US dropped two 500lb bombs on the offices of Al-Jazeera news network, which in turn accused the US of deliberately targeting the building after being told of its exact location. Al-Jazeera has been criticized by the US government for its coverage of the war, and especially since more people turn away from US corporate media in search of news about the war. On Oct 14, New York Daily News columnist Zev Chafets wrote: "dealing with Al Jazeera is a job for the military. Shutting it down should be an immediate priority." Protesters gathered at the Federal Bldg in SF on 11/14 to oppose the US attacks.
