Damrell in support of Bryan -- especially those of you who have
conditions for which medical marijuana is an effective
treatment, those of you who have seen loved ones with painful
medical conditions gain some relief from medical marijuana, and
those of you who know Bryan personally and can attest with
concrete examples as to what a good and kind person he is....

The West Hollywood City Council will vote on
interim guidelines for the six remaining medical
cannabis dispensing collectives on Monday, July
18. The proposed guidelines are much improved
from the first draft, which called for banning
the sale of edibles among other things....

LA County Moratorium & LAPD demonstration
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to extend the ban
on medical cannabis dispensaries in unincorporated areas of the
county for an additional 10 months this morning. This afternoon, 35 patients and advocates protested in front of the
LAPD headquarters in downtown Los Angeles calling for an end to raids
at local dispensaries....

CA State Senate Committee Passes Historic Marriage Equality Legislation
With a 5-2 vote, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed Equality California-sponsored Assembly Bill (AB) 849, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, authored by Assemblymember Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles), and supported by more than 30 other co-authors. Steve McWilliams is Dead
Cal NORML is sad to report that San Diego medical cannabis patient
activist Steve McWilliams has taken his life. McWilliams, who had
been fighting federal charges for growing a modest home garden for
the Shelter from the Storm Collective, was depressed over the Supreme
Court decision and in terrible pain, having been denied access to
medical marijuana since his arrest in 2002....

On Aug 4, 2003 Sherman Austin was sentenced to a year in federal prison by judge Steven V. Wilson for a link he had on his web site (Raisethefist.com) to another page that contained information on explosive materials which he did not author. Austin was also sentenced to 3 years of strict probation in which he cannot have access to a computer or knowingly associate with any individuals or organizations who espouse violence for political or social change....
