Blowing the Whistle on West Nile - Shades of 1950's and DDT
While the battle plan's objective is to target the mosquitoes that carry West Nile, the strikes won't be 'precision' and the collateral damage could be vast. Pesticides and larvicides can impact fish, insects, animals, and humans. And although the public has been told to lather up with DEET, spray pesticides, and eliminate standing water, little has been said about using select plants, birds, bugs, fish, and amphibians - gifts of nature that help control mosquitoes....

Still We Ride, will be shown throughout the world and will be kicking the party off in NYC on August 18th. Currently, San Francisco is scheduled to have a one shot screening at the Bicycle Film Festival on October 4th. I was thinking that it might be nice to have a screening after either the August or September Critical Mass. S.F. Supervisors Vote to Support Developers' Plans at Lake Merced!
San Francisco Supervisors yesterday voted 8-3 against ordering an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Bella Vista Development planned for an 7.7 acre designated open space park land on Brotherhood Way near Lake Merced. The anti-environment, pro-development vote was led by District 7 Supervisor Sean Elsbernd, front man for yuppie S.F. Mayor Gavin Newsom....
