On April 30th, I attended Free Skool Santa Cruz's Surveillance Camera Walking Tour. After meeting at the Clocktower, we walked up Mission Street to get a bird's eye view of the downtown. Our class started off with about a dozen people, including professor Winston Smith. On Monday, May 1st, International Workers Day, an estimated 10,000 people marched through the streets of Watsonville to support the rights of immigrants and all people. From the Watsonville Plaza, people marched over the bridge to Pajaro and then up Main Street to Highway 152. The march then went through neighborhoods in the east side of Watsonville beforing returning to the Plaza....

There were two large immigrant rights marches in Santa Cruz on May Day - one starting at the base of UC Santa Cruz, and the other starting in Beach Flats. The two met at the Town Clock, where the estimated 5,000 folks marched on to San Lorenzo Park together. The actions were part of a nationwide "Day Without an Immigrant" strike that saw millions of immigrants and their allies in the streets....
