Parking Lot Panic Law: Training Tutorial Downtown 3 PM Saturday
Satirical and Serious Protest Against the Latest Anti-Homeless Law, the Fifteen Minute Parking Lot Trespass Law coming up Saturday. Bring your parasols, lawn chairs, wits, cameras, and friends to the Pacific Avenue sidewalk in front of Artisans at 1368 Pacific. Edibles also welcome. At 4 PM the merriment will move to Bookshop Santa Cruz a block away (no demos for more than one hour in Santa Cruz in any one spot!)....

Public Space in Santa Cruz and the Surveillance Camera Walking Tour
On April 30th, I attended Free Skool Santa Cruz's Surveillance Camera Walking Tour. After meeting at the Clocktower, we walked up Mission Street to get a bird's eye view of the downtown. Our class started off with about a dozen people, including professor Winston Smith. In addition to pointing out cameras, our lesson for the day was to discuss various types of surveillance and the effects it has on individuals and society.

10,000 People Fill The Streets of Watsonville on May Day
On Monday, May 1st, International Workers Day, an estimated 10,000 people marched through the streets of Watsonville to support the rights of immigrants and all people. From the Watsonville Plaza, people marched over the bridge to Pajaro and then up Main Street to Highway 152. The march then went through neighborhoods in the east side of Watsonville beforing returning to the Plaza....

May Day in Santa Cruz
There were two large immigrant rights marches in Santa Cruz on May Day - one starting at the base of UC Santa Cruz, and the other starting in Beach Flats. The two met at the Town Clock, where the estimated 5,000 folks marched on to San Lorenzo Park together. The actions were part of a nationwide "Day Without an Immigrant" strike that saw millions of immigrants and their allies in the streets....

May Day Strike for Immigrant Rights in the Beach Flats
On Monday, May 1st, International Workers Day, thousands of Santa Cruz residents marched from Beach Flats Park to the town clock and on to San Lorenzo Park. At the town clock, the march from the Beach Flats met up with thousands of people who marched from the base of the UCSC campus....
