Health Care for All Passes CA Senate! On to the Assembly
The purpose of Health Care All—California is to
promote comprehensive universal health care, using a single payer public finance mechanism. We are all aware of the growing health care crisis in the U.S. We believe that there is a solution.
Changing to a universal health care system would save enough money to provide comprehensive coverage and greater benefits by covering everyone under one insurance plan. Health care services would still be delivered through both public and private provi...

Leona Quarry plan halted - victory over big developers
The reason I post this is because it's a victory for the people over the developers. While this has primarily been accomplished by a handful of devoted and amazingly dedicated individuals, it also has gradually involved more and more people in the area, hundreds of people who came out over the holidays in the rain to gather thousands of signatures in parking lots. Michael Parenti at the BFUU Friday Night
This is an interesting event series because activists really get to spend a lot of time talking about how they got to be where they are. When Larry Bensky spoke it was really interesting to hear about all the things that shaped him, growing up in the neighborhood he did, how his family lived, what his school experiences were like, etc. I wouldn't advocate only this sort of event - we also need ones where everyone gets to talk - but it's good for a once a month series....
