Farnaz Fassihi is a reporter for the Wall Street Journal. She was in Iraq and was reporting about the situation there for the WSJ. This is NOT one of her articles; rather it is an email that she sent to her friends at home... and since this has gotten out, the WSJ has taken her from Iraq and given her a long vacation...

Palestine: the assault on health and other war crimes
Does the death of an Arab weigh the same as that of a US or Israeli citizen? The Israeli army, with utter impunity, has killed more unarmed Palestinian civilians since September 2000 than the number of people who died on September 11, 2001. In conducting 238 extrajudicial executions the army has also killed 186 bystanders (including 26 women and 39 children). Two thirds of the 621 children (two thirds under 15 years) killed at checkpoints, in the street, on the way to school, in their homes, ...

Hostages to captives: Why some 'civilians'
may be fair game
The kidnapping of the director of Care International in Iraq has fuelled a debate over the legitimacy of taking hostages and killing captives.
For British Prime Minister Tony Blair, abducting 60-year-old aid worker Margaret Hassan "shows the kind of people that we are up against".
For Australian journalist John Martinkus, seizing foreign nationals is an intelligent way of "fighting a war" when you are outnumbered and outgunned. And unlike Blair, Martinkus has first h...

Getting Your Blood Boiling Dept.: A Real Life David Vs. Goliath and Implications
Most who believe they're "educated" or "informed" about the pedophile "menace" are having fancy-buttoned wool pulled over their eyes. Actual Sex abuse is fucked-up, yet the terminology used is hype terminology, designed to obfuscate and mobilize masses against people who happened to have been born to *fully genuinely care* about people called kids. Read the following account of anarchists taking on this issue, that is, if you can stop knocking yourself out with y...

A Bullet Fired for Every Palestinian Child
[Counterpunch] Editors' Note: This trenchant essay by Israeli novelist Yitzhak Laor was originally submitted to the London Review of Books, which in the past has frequently published Laor's writing. But they refused to run this skewering of the Israeli Left with the LRB's editor chiding Laor that "in my editorial judgment (to be pompous) this piece won't help anyone." CounterPunch is honored to publish it. AC / JSC...
