Treesitters in the Mattole were attacked again on Saturday(05/26/01) morning as Lewis Logging employees (contractors hired by Maxxam to clearcut in the Mattole) scaled Douglas Fir trees and assaulted non-violent activist who were occupying them....

05/09/01 Maxxam Resumes Logging In The Mattole
Yesterday Maxxam/Pacific Lumber resumed clearcutting of old growth Douglas Fir in Timber Harvest Plan(THP) 475 in the Mattole Watershed. Logging also began on adjacent logging plan THP 031, violating the public's trust by operating on a plan still under litigation....
