All Across The US: Nov 15th Protests Against Prop 8
Join the Impact organized nationwide protests on November 15th against Proposition 8 and other anti-gay measures that were passed in November 4th's election.
The SF protest took place on the front steps of City Hall.
The Oakland protest took place in Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. Other local protests included Santa Cruz, Sacramento, Fresno, Modesto, Mountain View, San Rafael, Santa Rosa and Tracy.
People from the Klamath Basin and throughout California are urging the State Water Resources Control Board to not grant Warren Buffett-owned PacifiCorp a clean water permit because of the degradation of water quality resulting from the operation of company's dams on the river.

Is Schwarzenegger Terminating Salmon Surveys?
A coalition of fishing and environmental groups is alarmed that an executive order by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued earlier this year could further threaten imperiled populations of Central Valley and Klamath River salmon. The order, made during the budget impasse between the Governor and Legislature, terminated temporary help positions from the state’s payroll.

Civil Rights Activists Takeover Fresno City Hall
On November 2nd, over 1,000 people came to downtown Fresno for a NO ON 8 rally. The rally at Fresno City Hall was followed by an impromptu march to the County Clerks office to demand marriage equality. The keynote speaker at the rally was Father Farrow, who was a priest at the Saint Paul Newman Center in northeast Fresno. . . until he came out (last month) against Proposition 8. For this courageous act, he was suspended as a priest and removed as pastor.

Hmong Gardeners Fight Eviction
A group of Hmong gardeners and their allies are fighting an attempt by the City of Fresno to evict them from plots they have farmed for 13 years. The Hmong Community Garden provides food for 300 members of the Hmong community. The city is planning to destroy the garden and build a police substation in its place. City officials have claimed that an agreement was reached to relocate the gardeners, but the gardeners stated they have not and will not agree to be relocated.

Tariq Ali Speaks in Fresno
Tariq Ali, novelist, historian, political campaigner, and editor of “New Left Review” spoke at the Islamic Cultural Center in Fresno on September 28, 2008. Ali said that Pakistan is in the throes of a new crisis: daily battles on the Afghan border, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and the farcical and grotesque succession ceremony. Tariq Ali sold copies of his latest book, “The Duel: Pakistan on the Flight Path of American Power," also the title of his talk.
