6/4: More than 150 University of California professors have joined Students for Justice in Palestine's campaign to support the divestment of UC funds from Israel. The petition calls for the UC to use its influence - political and financial - to encourage the US government and the government of Israel to respect the human rights of the Palestinian people and for divestment until Israel ceases its ongoing violations of international laws. Opportunistic Democrats, conspiracy theorists and media pundits are revelling in the recent release of evidence that the Bush administration had ample forewarning of the 9/11 plane attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The Democrats want a Congressional investigation, conspiracy buffs believe this proves Bush and the CIA had a hand in the attacks, and media pundits are even acknowledging their "patriotism run amok." What is clear is that the public relations spin industry is going to have its hands full, patriotic fever will be whipped up by more terrorist attack warnings, real or not, and the corporate media will continue to deflect attention from the real issues of imperialism and empire.
