May 1st was an interesting day for the United States with immigrants and even more so, supporters of immigrants, flooded the streets everywhere from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to Chicago in protest of the legesilative actions being taken the bureaucrats in Congress. Even though it was essentially a protest, it seemed more like a "partiotic" march...with people (essentially mexicans and Latin Americans) exposing the fact that they have two nationalities with U.S. flags and another...

audioIndynewswire Show: Xenophobic Nationalists Rally in Santa Clara (audio/mpeg 18.1MB) by ~Bradley & Vinny
Live, on-air rendering of sounds recorded at a very surreal, pro-amerikkan border rally which took place May 5, 2006 in Santa Clara, CA. We hear from a pair of women who helped organize the anti-immigrant rally, as well as a few folks who came out to present an "other" view on the immigration debate. Also, Santa Clara PD Sgt. Bourbon, reprimands Bradley, who expressed his views by flying an upside down flag. TRT: 39:36...

textMay 1st: Making History by El Tecolote (reposted)
All over the nation, Latinos spilled into the streets on Monday, May 1st, unified in their demands for immigrant human rights. Sesenbrenner probably would have never guessed that proposing HR4437 would have sparked such a historical reclaiming of May Day in the United States. Along 24th street in the Mission District, where many businesses and community organizations were closed, it really did feel like a day without immigrants. Signs displayed on doors showed support for the cause, “Closed:...

On May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) several dozen flag waving americans lined a short stretch of Kiely Blvd in front of Central Park in Santa Clara. The american flag wavers were holding an, "anti-illegal immigrant protest calling for secure borders, decreased migration to the US and no amnesty for illegal immigrants." In response to the nationwide call for "anti-illegal immigrant protests" the Destroy the Border Coalition called for people to counter-demonstrate against the racist message of the rall...

textAztlan Rising's Anti-HR 4437 Movement in Modesto by Xiuhcoatl
On May 1, 2006, the day of the nationwide boycott against HR 4437, over 10,000 people took to the streets of Modesto in a march that will be etched in Modesto history books and engraved in our hearts and minds for years to come. Although 10,000 may not seem like an astonishing amount in comparison to the 400,000 marchers in L.A., for a city with a population of just over 200,000 and a metropolitan area in the 300,000’s, it is just that – astonishing!...
