Teabaggers Shocked To Find They are on Same Side as Wealthy Folks
Billionaires for Wealthcare (San Mateo branch) came out to demonstrate alongside Tea Party "Patriots" at the scene of a Town Hall on high speed rail moderated by US Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D). The teabaggers (oops, they asked the Billionaires to please not call them that) were first amused, then confused, and quickly defused.

Constituents Urge Rep. Speier to Support Single Payer
US Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D) mingled with shoppers today at the farmers market in San Carlos. The crowd included dozens who came to tell the Representative what was on their minds. Members of Health Care Now and the Raging Grannies were on hand as they continue to press for a single payer plan. Others urged her to support as strong a bill as possible for health care reform. Still others, with crossed arms and unhappy expressions, came out for a right wing agenda....

Stanford Student Civil Disobedience Follows Prop 8 Announcement
At noon today about 200 students gathered in White Plaza on Stanford University campus. After briefly rallying they marched to the major Palo Alto intersection of Campus and Palm Drives where they sat in the street and blocked traffic for approximately 30 minutes. There were no arrests.

Raging Against Supreme Court Decision in Palo Alto
Several rallies were held in Palo Alto today. The first at 11am found the Raging Grannies wearing black sashes over bridal wear. They were joined by high school students, Stanford students, Unitarian ministers and even a few liberal Baptists.

Tuesday May 19 was a Global Day of Action for Troy Davis. Davis has been on Georgi'as death row for more than 18 years despite a strong case of innocence. He lost his most recent appeal. His execution date is expected to be set soon....

Activists tell Eshoo: Families Before Fat Cats!
Members and supporters of a San Mateo County healthcare task force called upon the office of US Congresswoman Anna Eshoo on May 13. Eshoo has yet to come out in support of either a Single-Payer healthcare plan or a Single-Payer style public option. Activists, with some help from the Raging Grannies, strongly encouraged her to do so.

Who's Watching Racist "Judicial Watch"?
Neighbors of the proposed new location for Mountain View's Day Worker Center called in a legal group from Washington, DC to advise them on protecting their neighborhood from "illegal" immigrants. At a city council meeting on May 12, the neighbors' group threatened the council that Judicial Watch would file a lawsuit against Mountain View for using taxpayer funds to help immigrants.

NIMBY Group Loses Anti-Day Worker Center Appeal
The Day Worker Center of Mountain View owns property at 113 Escuela Avenue and has a conditional-use permit approved by the city's zoning administrator. Neighbors of the new location for day worker support appealed the granting of that permission, and went so far as to call for the help of a right-wing extremist group that has sued other California cities for supporting day laborer centers.

Condi Rice Caught on Tape on Stanford Campus Lying About Torture
Can Stanford in good conscience have former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice lecture on campus without acknowledging crimes against humanity under the Bush administration? While university officials are silent on the topic, students are speaking out. One student assailed Rice at a small campus event for "select" students on Monday, April 27th. A videotape of their conversation caught Rice in a big lie.
