Rally in EPA: Tenants Unite to Fight Page Mill Properties Pt. I
Youth United for Community Action organized a rally of tenants and supporters. The march started in East Palo Alto, stopping in front of Page Mill Properties headquarters in Palo Alto, and continuing on to Congresswoman Eshoo's Office where they made their appeal to the Representative. Encouraging supporters to call Eshoo's office to complain about Page Mill Properties' tenant harassment they chanted:

Union Pacific Railroad Fences in Homeless Encampment
The H street homeless encampment in Fresno is being fenced in by Union Pacific railroad. The City of Fresno has issued a press release protesting the action, but seems powerless to stop the railroad from evicting the homeless residents....

Box facility at 101 Hyde Street into a full-service post office, the U.S. Postal Service is reneging its pledge to the community – citing fiscal woes. It’s the same excuse we got in December, when the Post Office said they would stop delivering to new mailboxes in residential hotels – despite state and local laws requiring SRO’s to install them....

Sacramento Tent City: The Second Great Depression?
Loaves & Fishes, the Sacramento Homeless Organizing Committee, Francis House and other groups have started a "Safe Ground" campaign to make the current situation of the homeless better, according to Joan Burke of Loaves and Fishes. The homeless camp that is portrayed in the linked photos is at nearly the same spot where a giant Hooverville was located during the great depression. The camp is growing by up to 50 people per day....

PVUSD Board attacks Class Size Reduction, votes to lay off hundreds
The Pajaro Valley Unified School District board of trustees approved Thursday night a budget that closes a $14 million dollar deficit. The cuts eliminate Class Size Reduction in Kindergarten and 3rd grade (eliminating 50 teacher positions from the elementary schools), slash funding for nurses, custodians, aides, and counselors, but leave top-level administrators' contracts untouched....
