Reflection on Oscar Grant sentancing protest and march...

The Coalition for Justice for Oscar Grant stands in solidarity with the people arrested on November 5th and we stand firm in our belief that the people have a right to assemble, a right to demonstrate, a right to march and a right to take a stand against a system that continuously oppresses, brutalizes and murders them. Rally at Frank Ogawa Plaza, followed by an unplanned march down 14th toward Laney College, finally ending at 6th Ave with a mass arrest of 152 people....

These are photos taken from the rally and march on November 5. As many speakers said, quoting John Burris, attorney for the family of Oscar Grant, Michael Vick got 4 years for shooting a dog. Johannes Mehserle got 2 years for shooting Oscar. To this rotten system the life of a young Black man is worth less than a dog!...

Cops arrest around 100 protesters in Oakland around E. 18th St., and 7th Ave!...

Predictably, Judge Rober Perry has thrown out the gun enhancement the jury added to Johannes Mehserle's conviction of Involuntary Manslaughter and has sentenced Mehserle to the very minimum recommended sentence for Involuntary Manslaughter - two years, giving Mehserle credit for time served, meaning Mehserle could be out of state prison in just over a year from now. With the gun enhancement in place Mehserle was facing up to 14 years in prison for the Involuntary Manslaughter conviction....

Nancy Pelosi is out and the Republicans now have more then 10 new Governors in States where they can carve out districts and further send the drab Democrats reeling into further - defeat.
