107 Locals Arrested in ICE Sweep - 44 Deported So Far
According to media reports, 107 people from Santa Cruz, Watsonville and Holister have been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in a sweep over Thursday and Friday. Of the immigrants, mostly from Mexico, but also from El Salvador, Guatemala and India, 44 have already been deported without prior access to lawyers. The rest are currently in custody (where?). This Thursday and Friday, federal immigration officials arrested 107 members of the Santa Cruz, Watsonville and Hollister communities, according to Sentinel reporter, Roger Sideman. Most were not given a hearing and immediately deported. Their crime? Immigration violations....
