We are asking mothers and wives of prisoners to dress in black and help us surround the three story building where Roderick Hickman, the man in charge of all the wardens, all the guards has his offices. Dec 2 - 10 am til we drop - too many prisoners are dying. They are doing hunger strikes which is very dangerous for them with the current shortage of doctors. The press does not intend to cover hunger strikes after the disaster at Corcoran where so many were criminally prosecuted for doing so....

textWinners and Losers in Election 2005 by Randy Shaw via Beyond Chron
Arnold Schwarzenegger has been widely portrayed as the big loser on November 8, and the Governor’s situation is actually far worse than appears. In contrast, the notion that San Francisco progressives were also losers on Tuesday is wrong, particularly as it relies on a false interpretation of the Sandoval and Prop D campaigns. Nationally, the biggest winner was Virginia Governor Mark Warner, who I now consider a frontrunner for the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination. Here’s our take on t...

textSchwarzenegger Is Shrimp Toast, Aloha! by Jamie Court via Huffington Post (reposted)
woke this morning at 5:50 am to some low level cries of my two year old son. When I rubbed his back, said "It's okay," and put him back to sleep, I felt deep in my bones the world was a little better after Arnold Schwarzenegger's Goliath-like collapse in yesterday's special election. The LA TImes online banner headline describing Schwarzenegger's defeat read like my toddler's vocabulary: "No,No,No,No,No,No, No,No"...

The initiative from the people who want to define in the CA constitution that a fetus is an unborn child is also going down. The re-regulate electricity (people seem to have forgotten Enron and our big energy f*#koff) and the non-BigPharma drug discount initiatives are going down by big margins. (Big Pharma put over $80 million into defeating the discount initiative and promoting their own to ...
