Every animal is a unique individual with a right to live free from pain. Tragically, many innocent animals are victimized by humans who don't understand or respect their value as living beings. IDA has therefore created places of refuge to protect animals from violence. Both IDA's Project Hope in Mississippi and IDA-Africa's Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center in Cameroon provide a safe environment that allows animals to experience the care and love they need to be healthy and happy.

McLibel: British Activists Sued for Distributing McDonald's Flyers Win Court Case
Two activists sued by McDonalds in Britain won their case against the British government, in a case that could change UK libel law forever. The European Court of Human Rights said the UK legal system breached the right to a fair trial and freedom of expression. AUDIO: KFC Protest in Santa Cruz 2-12-05
About two dozen people gathered on Saturday 2-12-05 at the KFC on Mission St. in Santa Cruz to protest KFC's continued failure to put a stop to abuses against chickens taking place in the factories and slaughterhouses that provide chicken to KFC. Chickens are routinely scalded alive, beaten and kicked. In addition, the chickens are kept in crowded filthy conditions and pumped full of hormones which frequently results in their inability to stand up or flap their wings.
