Since this is Easter weekend and the military budget is destroying our society, it is time we make this the first of the renewed Annual Easter Peace Marches, which were common in the 1950s and 1960s....

As hundreds of students passed by, speakers spoke of the Deir Yassin massacre of 1948 and the similarities between the struggles of Palestinians, Iraqis, Native Americans, African Americans and other oppressed groups. Happy Anniversary at the Oakland Docks
Yesterday was a different kind of anniversary; the painful memory was lot more real and personal. A year ago on April 7th, a 600 person picket line formed early in the morning at the Oakland Docks to take direct action against shipments to Iraq. The picket was brutally attacked by the police using less lethal weaponry such as rubber bullets, wooden dowels, concussion grenades and beanbag rounds. 50 people were injured and some sustained huge welts that made national news....

Mr. Feaster's son, Durrell, will be memorialized at candlelight vigils on April 28th throughout California. In January, Durrell, 18, and Deon Whitfield, 17, were found hanged in the cell they shared in the California Youth Authority.

Two Soldiers From The East Bay Die In Iraq
The high cost of war hits home in the Bay Area with the loss of two more young soldiers. Both of them were teenagers just out of high school. Both of them were from the East Bay.
19-year-old Marine Lance Corporal Travis Layfield of Fremont died Tuesday while fighting in Iraq's Anbar province.
Also killed on Tuesday was 18-year-old Kyle Crowley of San Ramon. Marine officials told his family he died in a fierce gunfight east of Ramadi....
