Capitola Home Depot Targeted With Literature to Save Patagonia
The Home Depot in Capitola was targeted on May 3rd with hundreds of stickers and handbills to publicize the company's involvement in a controversial development project in Patagonia, Chile. The HidroAysen project involves three dams on the Pascua River and two dams on the Baker River that would flood globally rare forest ecosystems and some of the most productive agricultural land in the Aysen region.

International Workers Day Mass Action in Defense of Families, Jobs, Immigrants
On May 1st, International Workers Day, rallies and marches were held in the San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Cruz County, and the Central Valley. Demonstrators called for action in defense of jobs, families, immigrants, and unions.

Support Wanted for Jesse James of Santa Cruz in Aftermath of RNC
Jesse James Forrey, 27, was arrested at the RNC protests of last September in the Twin Cities. He is fighting a felony charge of damage to property in the first degree and faces up to five years in jail. Jesse is from Santa Cruz and eagerly waits to return to his home and family. He has hired a private attorney to help him through trial and is asking for support.
On Friday, May 1st from 4:00 - 9:00pm there will be May Day activities in the Watsonville Plaza, including speakers, free consultations with lawyers, films, and more. At 6:00pm, people throughout the Monterey Bay Area will rally and march to demand justice, human rights, and comprehensive immigration reform with pathways to citizenship.

April Issue of The Project Newspaper out now
The Project is a newspaper created by an open collective of UCSC students and allies to document and inspire strategic radical actions that are relevant to local, regional, and global socioeconomic justice. The Project collective has published their second issue since being resurrected in the Fall.

15th Anniversary of the Watsonville Brown Berets
The Watsonville Brown Berets celebrated their 15th anniversary with a dinner and salsa dance on Saturday, April 25th at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Aptos. The Brown Berets have worked in their own community and built solidarity with others for the past 15 years. With a focus on youth, education, social justice, direct action and community events, thousands of people have participated in, or been affected by, their grassroots activities.

Simon Sedillo on Neoliberalism and Self-Determination
On Thursday, April 16th, community rights defense organizer and filmmaker, Simon Sedillo, was at AK Press to offer perspectives on global implications of the Oaxacan peoples' struggle for communities in the United States. Through his multimedia presentation, Sedillo created a dialogue on the effects of neoliberalism on indigenous communities, immigrant communities, and communities of color in the US and Mexico. Sedillo will also give his presentation on Monday, April 20th at the Watsonville Cabrillo Center.
