Impeachment Protest At Crissy Field
In San Francisco, Beach Impeach Project #3 will take place on Saturday September 15th. Thousands of people will gather at Crissy Field to spell out the words "IMPEACH NOW!" in 100 foot-tall letters. Versions of this same event attracted 1,000 people in January, and 1,500 in April.

Banafsheh Akhlaghi Speaks at "Stars and Bars"
Progressive Lawyering Day is a free annual conference organized by Bay Area National Lawyers Guild students. Attorney and advocate Banafsheh Akhlaghi, founder and president of the National Legal Sanctuary for Community Advancement, gave the keynote address at this year's event on September 15th in San Francisco.

September 12th Vigil and March in San Francisco
Immigrant communities and their allies from around the Bay Area will come together for a vigil at 6:30pm at 24th and Mission Streets on Wednesday, September 12th. The St. Peters Housing Committee has called for the vigil to protest a variety of legal attacks against immigrants that have taken the form of raids, Social Security "No-Match Letters," English-only policies, increased fees for citizenship applications, and attempts to eliminate family-based immigration. After the vigil, participants will march to the HOMEY Mural at 24th and Capp Streets.

Power to the Peaceful Festival Rocks Golden Gate Park
On Saturday September 8th, Michael Franti and his group Spearhead – along with Guerrilla Management –presented the 9th Annual 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival at Speedway Meadow in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. This free annual music and arts festival is "dedicated to social justice, non violence, coexistence, and environmental sustainability-- and is aimed to educate, enrage, enlighten and inspire." The event was followed by an after-party at the Mezzanine, and a daytime Yoga Jam is planned for Sunday.

87th Anniversary of U.S. Women's Right to Vote
August 26th is Women’s Equality Day. The date was selected to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. The 2nd Annual California Women's Equality Day Parade and Rally will take place on Saturday, August 25th, beginning at 9:30am at Sacramento's Southside Park, and ending in a rally on the West Steps of the Capitol at 11am. On Thursday, August 30th, Radical Women celebrated Women's Equality Day with an event at New Valencia Hall.

Anti-War Activists Protest At Feinstein Mansion
On August 19th, activists from as far away as Palo Alto, Mexico City, and Milan joined members of Code Pink in front of Diane Feinstein's mansion, where they rang the doorbell and sang out for peace.
Code Pink members are half way through a fast for peace,
in an effort to convince Feinstein and Pelosi to take a stronger stand against the war in Iraq.

San Francisco Protest Denounces the APA's Complicity in Torture
On Friday, August 17th people who oppose the American Psychological Association (APA)'s role in the development and use of torture by the US marked the beginning of the APA's convention in San Francisco by gathering at the Stone Stage in Yerba Buena Gardens. A recently declassified August 2006 Department of Defense report confirms that psychologists were directly responsible for the development and use of techniques defined by the International Red Cross as “tantamount to torture.”
