On the Heels of Huge Wall Street Demo, National Protest of US Banking System
Organizers estimate a protest on Wall Street, including a march that went past the New York Stock Exchange and American International Group, drew 10,000 participants on April 4th. On April 11th, demonstrators in front of San Francisco's Federal Reserve Bank building called for major changes to the US banking system, as did protesters at more than 50 locations across the nation.

G20 Summit in London
On April 1st & 2nd, protesters from around the world have converged in London as the G20 Summit got underway Wednesday. Leaders from the world's 20 largest developed and developing nations are meeting in the UK to discuss the global economic crisis largely created by U.S. "financial innovation." Actions, camps and marches have taken place in the week leading up to the summit and have been met with an expectedly large police presence in the city center. Anti-capitalist protesters attacked the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Peter Herlihy and Jerome Dobson, professors of Geography at Kansas University, received funding from the Foreign Military Studies Office, located at the Fort Leavenworth U.S. Army base in Leavenworth, Kansas, to map communally held indigenous land in the states of San Luis Potosi, and in Oaxaca, Mexico. The project, named the Bowman Expeditions or México Indígena, began mapping in 2005 in an indigenous region known as La Husteca, which is partially located in the state of San Luis Potosi, and then moved their operation to the state of Oaxaca amidst the statewide popular uprising of the Oaxacan Peoples’ Popular Assembly (APPO) in 2006.

Santa Cruz Anarchist Convergence from May 7th to 10th
Between the forest and the ocean, among the students and the yuppies, Anarchists in Santa Cruz have fostered a close-knit community dedicated to the destruction of this world and the creation of another. Santa Cruz is a hub of anarchist culture and resistance, with a long history of radical struggle and active anarchist projects spanning decades. From May 7th to 10th, the Santa Cruz Anarchist Convergence was be a four-day event for building community and resistance and sharing radical ideas.

Autonomous Brown Berets Chapter Emerges in Salinas
A group of youth in Salinas are activating a chapter of the Brown Berets to help deal with gang violence, discrimination and poverty. Brown Berets are currently active in communities such as Watsonville and Fresno. Historically, Brown Berets have been an important component of the Chicano/Chicana movement and instrumental in educating and inspiring youth to become politically active.

Students at UC Berkeley Commemorate 40 Years of Third World Liberation Front
On Tuesday March 10th, the “Activism Right There (A.R.T.) Festival” was held at Zellerbach Auditorium at UC Berkeley. The festival, part of a week of events commemorating the 40th anniversary of the founding of the third world Liberation Front (twLF) strikes, featured a variety of radical performances.

14th Annual Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair
On Saturday and Sunday, March 14th and 15th, dozens of publishers, distributors, independent booksellers, alternative media and political groups, artists, and others participated in the 14th Annual Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair. The fair was held in the San Francisco County Fair Building at Golden Gate Park, 9th Avenue & Lincoln Way.
