Observers needed from any city for Berkeley recount of Measure R.
As you know the original count of the Berkeley vote showed Measure R loosing
by 191 votes. Measure R was proposed to the voters of Berkeley to correct some
guidelines passed by members of the City council that severely restricted
Grow limits, permitting new Cannabis Clubs, or the relocation of old ones. In a
city this large, that is a very small amount of people to lose to....

Grower in Oakland CHP Bust Gets Probation
A Santa Clara woman was sentenced to two years' probation Monday for
her role in the cultivation of 4,000 marijuana plants found in a West
Oakland warehouse that supporters say was a legitimate grower of
medical cannabis....

Lawsuit Against the CHP for Taking People's Medicine
The CHP, in defiance of SB420 (allowing for the transportation of
medical marijuana), has a policy that instructs officers to seize
patient and caregiver medicine regardless of any documentation provided.
CHP General Law Enforcement Policy Manual states that, "[e]ven if
[medical marijuana patient status] is alleged, all marijuana SHALL be
confiscated and booked as evidence..." (emphasis added)....

Salinas: MMJ patient spends 80 days in jail/Charges dropped
Drug charges have been dismissed against a man who claimed
he was growing marijuana for medical use.
Fifty-two-year-old John Pendo spent 80 days in jail because he couldn't
post bail after his April arrest....

Misdemeanor plea entered in pot case in Oakland
Two of the five defendants in the Oakland MMJ warehouse bust have
pled to a misdemeanor deal. Three others face felony cultivation
charges. Their cases are scheduled to be heard in January....

All of the concerned neighbors who were expressing their complaints
acknowledged that cannabis is medicine and that patients have the
right to safe access. They seemed primarily concerned that seven
clubs have sprung up in a small region of the county....

Asked about Berkeley's proclivity to support medical marijuana--the
city voted 86 percent in favor of the Compassionate Use Act which
decriminalized it--Bates said he thought Berkeley voters "will see
through this as an effort to get past local zoning rules."...
