The I.V.A.W will be hosting a benefit event to bring awareness to the public of the war in Iraq. The service members experienced something in this war that hasn't been felt since Vietnam. Migrawatch Denounces ICE Raids
Migrawatch denounces the gestapo-like tactics of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE). More than 900 people were taken in California and over 700 in Iowa during recent ICE raids. In the Monterey Bay Area, 25 people were taken, including in Watsonville, Salinas, Capitola and Seaside.
One individual was stopped by ICE on Rodriguez Street in Watsonville in plain daylight. He was pushed to the ground, his hands were tied around his back, and his feet were bounded while being f...

Mayor Ignores Latest Brown Act Violations; Berkeley Councilman on Free Radio Sunday
Several weeks ago, I sent the following letter to Mayor Ryan Coonerty demanding the Council rehear various items passed without the required public comment period (in spite of specific requests from the public to speak). On my Sunday radio show tomorrow (6-1) around noon (101.1 FM), Berkeley City Councilmember Kriss Worthington will be calling in for a second time to discuss new legislation to open up Council meetings to the public in Berkeley....

AFSCME strike postponed -- what's next?
AFSCME 3299's strike (planned for June 4 - 5) has been postponed indefinitely. The university administration got scared by the intense organizing and solidarity being built at our campuses. So they broke out their checkbook and hired some professional union-busters, in an attempt to divide workers from one another, and to divide AFSCME from their allies. We have to respond by becoming more united and deepening our solidarity....

UC's Coordinated "Return to the Bargaining Table"
Suddenly UC Executives claim that they still have proposals after their "last, best, and final proposal" was announced just last week, which did not come close to ending poverty wages at UC for Service workers and Patient Care Technical workers. The same workers that UC said were not important are now said to be vital to public safety if there was a strike....

96% of UC Service Workers are income eligible for Public Assistance
So you've debunked how UC Executives are constantly crying wolf about the state budget because you know that only 8.6% of the state budget goes to UC Service Workers. And only 1% of student fees contribute to workers' wages....

Victory at UCSC! GSHIP and USHIP will cover transgender healthcare

Effective this fall, GSHIP and USHIP will include a $75,000 lifetime benefit for transgender healthcare....
