Humboldt Forest Defense updates
The legal team representing nine forest activists who were pepper-sprayed in 1997 won another big legal victory Monday, after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal brought by Humboldt County's attorneys.
Earth First! activist Naomi Wagner, who this week began a 40-day jail sentence for resisting arrest during a logging protest in Freshwater last March, said she will fast during her imprisonment....

Mendocino Goes GMO Free
Signaling a turning point in the effort to halt the introduction of GMO crops in the U.S., the citizens of Mendocino County today dramatically approved a countywide measure that prohibits the "propagation, cultivation, raising and growing of genetically modified organisms.”
With 100% of the precincts reporting, the final tally was 56.34% for and 43.66% against. The County has 47,000 voters.
