Green Is...Not PG&E: Behind the Green Ink of This Nor Cal Utilities Company
Walking around San Francisco, you might have noticed bright green ads featuring cutesy witticisms about what “green is,” sponsored by the local utility monopoly PG&E. My favorite ad prominently displays a piece of cow dung with the quote “Green isn’t always pretty.” Here, PG&E isn’t too far off; for them, green is… a lie....

Beyond Petroleum: UC Berkeley Sells Out to Energy Giant
With royal fanfare, British Petroleum just donated big money in research funds for UC Berkeley, Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, and the University of Illinois to develop new sources of energy—primarily biotechnology to produce biofuel crops. This comes on the anniversary of Berkeley’s hapless research deal with seed giant Novartis ten years ago. However, at 500 million dollars, the BP grant dwarfs Novartis’ investment by a factor of ten. The graphics of the announcement were unmistakable: ...

Lennar BVHP LLC must cease all operations on Parcel A at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard
Lennar BVHP LLC has been using money, spin, media, disinformation to carry on the dubious activities on Parcel A at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The enforcing agencies have mandated to Lennar BVHP LLC to stop their operations by issuing Notice of Violations (NOV) but Lennar BVHP defies all logic and continue to defy mandates rules, regulation, and plain simple decency. One of the reason is because our foolish Mayor Gavin Newsom is backing Lennar BVHP LLC. Another reason the mostly Black sell...

Municipal Movement Towards Greener Energy Thwarted by PG&E's Budgeted Aims
This speech was presented as public comment at the California Public Utilities Commission hearing on March 15, 2007. It speaks of the growing movement of cities taking action against climate change, in the face of U.S. government inaction. The speech presents Community Choice Aggregation, or the state law passed in 2002 allowing communities to take over the role of purchasing energy for its residents, as part of this movement....

In support of their strategy to remind the public and government representatives to prioritize affordable, safe and systemic solutions to the climate crisis, the Green Guerrillas Against Greenwash will make public comment about PG&E’s rate hike at the CPUC’s meeting on March 15, 2007. Navy shaft Mayor Gavin Newsom early transfer by Navy is no option without cleanup
Hunters Point Naval Shipyard is not the Presidio of San Francisco. The Navy will not consider any early transfer especially with very serious pollution issues found on Parcel B with methane gas communicating over a very large area. The Navy bears liability and will not transfer large tracts of land without some major elements linked to liability in place. The SF City and County has very poor standing in this region....

Lennar Corp. defies reason and logic and continues to pollute the environment
It has been over 10 months now that some of us have gone before every enforcing agency to force Lennar Corp. to follow mandated rules and regulations. Again and again Lennar Corp. defies all norms and continues to pollute the land, the water, and the air with the most harmful pollutants. The City and County has the Precautionary Principle but has NOT enforced it linked to Lennar Corp. and Parcel A at Hunters Point Naval Ship Yard in San Francisco....

S.F. Gets Second Chance to Cut Down on Plastic Bags
Two years ago, San Francisco had a chance to significantly impact the amount of garbage we produce while drastically reducing the costs of recycling and garbage disposal – by imposing a 17-cent fee on each plastic bag distributed at large grocery stores. The legislation also would have improved the cleanliness of our city and reduced the pollution in our bay....

San Fracisco Peaks - victory for the First People from Ninth Circuit Appeals Court
I received an e-mail from the lead attorney Mr.Shanker that the tribes linked to the San Francisco Peaks, who opposed the desecration of the peaks by some entities - that wanted to use treated sewage to create snow so that they could defile and ski on the San Francisco Peaks, Sacred Sites and Slopes were defeated. This is a Big Victory in recent times in favor of Mother Earth, the First People, and good children, men, and women. Aho....
