UC Hunger Strikers in the Baytree Plaza
On May 16th, students at UC Santa Cruz were in the Baytree Plaza to spread information about the University of California's Board of Regents and their ties to the management of the Los Alamos and Livermore nuclear laboratories. Ashley and Tosh are two undergraduate students at UCSC that are part of the 44 University of California students on a hunger strike to demand that the UC Board of Regents sever their ties to the the laboratories which are producing new nuclear weapons....

UC Hunger Strike Against Weapons Labs Passes 1-Week Mark
A hunger strike initiated by 44 UC students, several alumni and a professor has passed its 1-week mark. What you need to know about GSHIP and grad healthcare at UCSC
Most graduate students are enrolled in the Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (GSHIP). According to the contract between the TA's union (UAW) and the university, 100% of the GSHIP fees are remitted for TAs. The benefits from the union contract are shared by all grad students, who get the same coverage when they buy in to GSHIP.
So what's the problem? Well, our union contract guarantees that the university will pay the costs of GSHIP, but it doesn't guarantee anything about what kind of...
