image150 March on Mexican Consulate in San Francisco Solidarity with Oaxaca
120_internationalsolidarityb_1.jpg
by reZz
In San Francisco yesterday, about 150 people gathered in small groups responding to an international call for shows of solidarity for the people of Oaxaca. Folsom street and entrances to the Bay Bridge were blocked by cyclists and marchers carrying symbolic body bags, colorful banners and puppets, and chanting slogans like "La lucha Sigue" ... celebrating over six months of struggle by the people of Oaxaca to build community in resistance to the corrupt state government of Governor Ruiz....

textEducation Not Incarceration Supports Oaxaca Uprising and 11/20 Solidarity Actions by Education Not Incarceration
We, Education Not Incarceration, want to emphasize the connection between growing incarceration rates in the United States, which often result from job-lessness caused by globalization of the workforce, and the poverty and uprising against neo-liberalism by the people of Oaxaca. In Mexico people are forced to work and live in extreme poverty conditions, resulting from free-trade laws that enable US corporations to extract human and natural resources from Mexico without any protecti...

That could mean blockading the consulates’ websites, jamming their phone lines with calls about the conflict in Oaxaca, occupying the offices of the consuls, or shutting down the roads around the consulates in whatever way you see fit." - EZLN please add more events as a comment Donate in Solidarity with Oaxaca http://elenemigocomun.net/donate ...

imageState Blames APPO for Brad Will's Death
120_sign.jpeg.jpg
by danielsan
As the official investigation into the killing of Brad Will goes on, legitimate questions are being asked but it is increasingly obvious that the state government is not acting as impartial investigator, but rather as 'judge and jury,' in the words of APPO spokespeople. This week, the PGJE (Procuraduría General de Justicia del Estado: roughly equivilent to the state attorney general's office) has attempted to blame APPO and its supporters for the killing, saying that they executed him at clos...

textOn The Dream of Indymedia and the Murder Of Brad Will by Eat The State (reposted)
Last week, Brad Will, a founding reporter of the New York Independent Media Center and an old friend, was killed while videotaping the mass crackdown by state police against the people's movement in Oaxaca. His killers were quickly identified by residents of the neighborhood as local officials and off-duty police, working (presumably) for the governor of Oaxaca, Ulysses Ruiz. The governor's office immediately announced that the four had been arrested, but several days later this report turned...
