the fell street squat is an enormous public school. it could provide homes to hundreds while still providing desperately needed community space. and there are at least 20 more public buildings left sitting vacant. it is a crime to leave it empty for over a decade....

We stayed at the St Francis Hotel on Union Square and were appalled by the numbers of homeless people forced to beg in the streets only a block or so away. I live and work just outside of London so am no stranger to the problems of homelessness.
