Media reports from Japan this week highlighted that the Japanese Fisheries Agency is likely to send the whaling fleet to the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary near Antarctica later this year. A US$27 million boost to security for the whaling fleet is likely, despite the country still reeling from it's triple disaster of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown. The injection of more Government money into the program is likely to be controversial locally when many people are still homeless as a r...

The probable link between the Ruby Pipeline bringing natural gas to Malin, OR where the proposed Pacific Connector pipeline would meet from Coos Bay, OR was too much of a financial opportunity for Jordan Cove Corp's marketing rep Bob Braddock to pass up. Exporting domestic LNG originally intended for CA would raise the price for consumers while depleting domestic natural gas reserves as quickly as they can sell it. The only beneficiaries of the planned natural gas export would be the corporat...

“Through glitzy advertising campaigns and scientists whose research is paid for by the industry, agribusiness and biotechnology companies try to persuade consumers that genetic engineering is the only hope for feeding a growing population, which is completely untrue,” said Wenonah Hauter, Executive Director of Food & Water Watch....

A new Scripps study has found that two key Southern California fisheries--kelp bass and barred sand bass--have declined by 90% in the past 20 years, continuing an alarming trend that has seen other targeted species like cowcod, sheepshead and halibut dwindling in the region. One proven way to rebuild fisheries is protecting the places where fish feed and breed, and California is working to do just that through the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA)....

The Ruby Pipeline is now online, scheduled to begin extracting (fracking) natural gas from around Opal, Wyoming and transporting to Malin, OR. There are also possilbe plans there for connections to the proposed Pacific Connector pipeline to export the Rocky Mt. natural gas to Asian markets, thus driving up the price for CA consumers. This is the same El Paso natural gas corporation that jacked up the prices during the ENRON energy "crisis" where inflated natural gas prices nearly bankrupt the...

We need President Obama to hear in our voices that we do not want our groundwater supply contaminated by corporations using hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") to extract natural gas. A process that leaves tapwater flammable cannot be claimed as clean energy! We need people to participate and call Pres. Obama to tell him to stop fracking with our groundwater!...

In the spring of 2011 a Bureau Of Land Management rangeland supervisor working for the Prineville Oregon BLM was caught red-handed subleasing his own cattle grazing permits issued for federal land allotments on Rudio Mountain. This BLM employee was breaking the law and BLM is keeping this confidential to protect themselves. The guilty BLM employee lives nearby. He is well known as an avid mustang hater. In his opinion cattle should not have to compete with mustangs on federal grazing allotmen...

Another chance for members of the public to comment to the BLM and share their views on the proposed SNWA pipeline from Snake and Spring Valley aquifers to the Las Vegas region. Please request the BLM take the NO ACTION alternative and deny the pipeline access across public lands held by the BLM. We do not need any more aquifers being overdrafted for extra golf courses and suburban sprawl development (ie., Coyote Springs from Harvey Whittemore), we need flowing springs and seeps for our ecosy...
