2 more activists were arrested deep in the woods yesterday (5/21/01) attempting to stop the destruction of the irretrievable ancient Douglas fir forests of the Mattole
River in Humboldt County, California. Over 50 activists have been arrested since late last year defending these irreplaceable wildlands....

Yesterday Maxxam/Pacific Lumber resumed clearcutting of old growth Douglas Fir in Timber Harvest Plan(THP) 475 in the Mattole Watershed. Logging also began on adjacent logging plan THP 031, violating the public's trust by operating on a plan still under litigation....

PACIFIC LUMBER REQUEST FOR INJUNCTION DELAYED
In Eureka today, Judge Dale Reinholtsen in Humboldt Superior court granted a continuance in a "SLAPP suit" case filed against those defending the ancient forests of the Mattole River watershed....
