Thursday, August 23, 2007 :Open calls by Democratic Party leaders this week for the removal of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, combined with ongoing expressions of frustration by Bush administration officials, indicate that the Iraqi government’s days are numbered. Moves are underway in Washington and Baghdad to remove Maliki when the Iraqi parliament returns from a summer break on September 4....

Over four years of brutal warfare in Iraq has spawned a refugee crisis of staggering proportions. Two million Iraqis have been forced to leave their country and are now scattered across Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, and Turkey. There are an estimated 1.2 million Iraqi refugees in Syria.
