Many tenants live in fear that they are just one rent-gouging increase or one discriminatory or arbitrary eviction notice away from losing their home. AB 1482's statewide anti-gouging and just cause protection provisions will change all of this. Our homes are where we lay our heads down at night, where we feel safe, and where our families and children feel safe! California's tenants deserve and need these critical protections. According to HUD’s records on 10/08/2019, in San Francisco there are 13,798 units in its Section 8 inventory, Oakland has 13,614 Section 8 units, Berkeley has 1,995 Section 8 units, Alameda has 1,885 Section 8 units, Alameda County has 6,684 Section 8 units, Contra Costa County has 9,235 Section 8 units, and Marin Housing has 2,205 Section 8 units listed. Oddly, the City of Richmond does not have any Section 8 units listed in HUD’s records....

I do hope you can get through this, and especially the last 3 or 4 paragraphs - then go back and read about the sausage-making if that's easier. Please forward to any you think care about Pacifica. I don't agree with this newsletter always, but I think this is important. I hope others will write to the board as article suggests - if nothing else, for the record.
