Sunday, November 30, 2008 : Six workers at the Mongibello flower plantation just outside of Bogotá, Colombia, were illegally fired earlier this month for trying to form a union. The actions, which are illegal under Colombian law, are just another example of the lax enforcement of labor laws in that country that must be addressed before a free trade agreement with Colombia can be considered....

The Detroit Free Press reported Friday that the United Auto Workers union (UAW) is secretly negotiating with the Big Three US automakers to revise current contracts in accordance with demands from both Democratic and Republican leaders that major concessions be imposed on auto workers in return for any government loan to avert bankruptcy by one or more of the companies....

Friday, November 21, 2008 : Carwasheros, as the car wash workers in Southern California are known, scored a big victory yesterday when California Labor Commissioner Angela Bradstreet announced that 60 employees of the Hollywood Riviera Car Wash in Redondo Beach will receive $450,000 in unpaid wages. The payout comes in settlement of a lawsuit against the car wash filed by the state on the workers’ behalf....

Their is an uprising going on at UGSOA as 710 Security Police Professionals working for the State Department in Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, Kentucky, New Orleans, Connecticut, California, South Carolina, Arizona and New York voted to DUMP UGSOA as their collective bargaining agent on 9/10/08. This was UGSOA's Largest Local Union....
