Dignity Village and Allies Stood Up to Resist Eviction and the City of Oakland Backed Down (video/mp4 18.2MB) The city of Oakland threatened to evict residents from the Housing and Dignity Village on December 5. Oakland police and city public works employees blocked off parking on S Elmhurst Ave to prepare for the eviction. But early in the morning gates to the community were locked and dozens showed up to place themselves between the encampment and police.
