Flouting the will of the voters and the dismissing mental health clients' demands, the California Department of Mental Health announced Tuesday that the agency will allow counties to use funds from Proposition 63, the recently passed Mental Health Services Act, for involuntary treatment, including court-ordered outpatient commitment. In response, the California Network of Mental Health Clients has launched a letter-writing campaign to stop the provision from taking effect....

At least rhetorically, Schwarzenegger has backed down on his proposals to privatize California public pensions. While he denies it has anything to do with the thousands of teachers, nurses, cops, and firefighters who have been dogging him out at every fundraising event, we all know better. It's not time to let down our guard, though, as his apparent retreat is not set in stone and there's still plenty of anti-worker evil in the works....
