KFC Bay Area PETA Campaign
Hello everyone,
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has a campaign website called KentuckyFriedCruelty.com asking KFC to eliminate the worst abuses that chickens suffer in the factory farms and slaughterhouses of its suppliers. These abuses include live scalding, life-long crippling, and painful debeaking....

The Oxygen Collective is organizing a trip in our biodiesel bus for the first three weeks of December to bring supplies and volunteers to offer direct aid and relief work for people in the New Orleans area. We will be joining with an inspiring grassroots effort spearheaded by the Common Ground Collective (http://www.commongroundrelief.org) in the Algiers Neighborhood, where one of the O2's founding members, Kerul Dyer, is working as their unofficial Director of Operations....

Secrecy rarely does anyone any good. And secrecy in voting is particularly senseless. It has produced a series of disastrous, if not unintended consequences. Due to its anonymity and non-transparency, the secret ballot has made vote fraud easier not harder, particularly for those in a position of power, such as election officials and voting machine technicians....

If Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa fails to honor his promise to fire Mr. Stuckey and to hire a compassionate and experienced General Manager who can implement a no-kill plan and reform the department, he may find that the animal community is politically-speaking, more bite than bark....

As you may know, Stanley Tookie Williams has been sentenced by the state to die on December 13th at San Quentin. Stanley Tookie Williams has been nominated several times for Nobel Prizes in Peace & Literature -- for his anti-violence, anti-gang work and nearly a dozen intervention books about gang life. Letters of clemency may be the only thing that can save Mr. Williams' life....
