The State of Israel, via the Israel Defense Forces, the intelligence community and the Foreign Ministry, and with the encouragement of the prime and defense ministers, has become entangled in and embarrassed by the affair of the Qassam-or-stretcher in Gaza. In its eagerness to show that the Palestinians will stoop to any means, Israel behaved with reckless haste and injured its pretensions to superiority over the Palestinians with regard to credibility. This has implications not merely for pu...

GAZA, Oct. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 10 Palestinians, eight of them being children, were injured after midnight Wednesday as an Israeli army tank fired a tank shell at their house east of the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahya, Palestinian medics reported....

Should the withdrawal from Gaza ever materialise, Sharon intends to leave behind a captive population of more than 1 million not only with no ability to defend themselves from the IDF forces surrounding them but with scarcely any means of subsistence. And in all likelihood, the bloodshed will not be confined to Gaza. At any point, the larger Palestinian population in the occupied West Bank can also be attacked—using a similarly spurious pretext as that employed to justify the attack on Gaza....

At first glance the violence in Jabaliya in Palestine and in the Iraqi town of Samarra appear to be unconnected. The Israeli army's incursion into northern Gaza looks like just another deadeningly familiar episode in the unending conflict between Palestinians and Jews....

Rafah, Gaza Strip - Israeli soldiers shot dead a 13-year-old Palestinian schoolgirl in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday after she approached an army watchtower in a tense border zone, witnesses said.

shielded from view is the suffering of about 50,000 Palestinians trapped in areas seized by hundreds of Israeli troops, backed by about 200 tanks and armoured vehicles....Many people are without water in Beit Hanoun, a town of 15,000 near the border with Israel. Aref Azaneed, a ministry of agriculture inspector, said: "The water and the sewage lines are near each other. When the tanks destroy them, they mix. The water from the tap has sewage in it."...

Pat Robertson is in Israel and rallying both his anti-Jewish right-wing followers along with Likud followers who seem to like him solely for his religious hatred towards Mulsims. Netanyahu even appeared on the 700 club and they both engaged in a pretty sickening few minutes of mutual ass kissing. Religious Zionists and Evangelical bible thumpers seem to have more in common than anti-anti-Zionists admit; perhaps the use of the term ZioNazi is not far off mark when it comes to religious Zionist...

The following is an e-mail exchange between the well known Israeli historian, Benny Morris, and Kathleen and Bill Christison, initiated when Morris wrote to criticize an article written for CounterPunch.org by the Christisons. The article, entitled "Finally It Broke My Heart": Random Impressions from Palestine, ran on September 24, 2004. The exchange is reprinted below exactly as each correspondent wrote, including any mistakes and infelicities that might have resulted from the hast...

Despite pretty strong evidence that these pictures are really of a stretcher being loaded into a car, the Israeli media (and proIsrael US media) will use this as evidence that the UN has an ant-Israel bias. Those who support Israel have an almost pathological tendency to read what they want into world events. The UN debates about a wall that will divide the West Bank and make it into one large prison camp and the proIsrael press makes a fuss about how all countries except the US are antiSemet...
