06/09/04 - Police Presence at SF Police Review Commission
The following is a brief reportback from the SF Police Review Commission meeting, mainly focusing on the heavy police presence. It is difficult to say why the police were out in such force, since the folks that were there in regards to the illegal arrests made during the attempted street party the night before were on their best behavior. Maybe it was simply a matter of them attempting to intimidate folks, or maybe it was simply a way for the cops to milk the city for more overtime....

Pro-Biotech Protesters at Moscone Center
Yesterday at Moscone, I saw these guys standing outside the main entrance. There was a lot of good conversation happening there. I had hoped that the Reclaim the Commons participants had an intelligent critique of biotech, but I was wrong. I talked to at least 20 people and all of them had the most ignorant things to say about the science they are trying to destroy. It was upsetting to me....

SFPD Dreaming About How They Will Spend All The Overtime They Are Milking from the City
This is a picture of SFPD officers lounging after they had arrested 5 people during last Saturday's breakaway march. They went a bit overboard on police presence on Saturday and have continued to do so the rest of this last week, which is nice for them when they get their next paychecks, but means a lot of money being sucked from the city budget....
