"In the two year period covering 2014-2015, the Westlands Water District is on pace to pump over 1 million acre feet of groundwater - more water than Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco combined use in 1 year," said Adam Scow, Food & Water Watch California Director. "Much of Westlands grows water-intensive almonds and pistachios, most of which are exported out of state and overseas. This is a wasteful and unreasonable water use, especially during a severe drought."...

“If the Governor was serious about protecting our water he would issue a moratorium on fracking to stop the ongoing pollution of 2 million gallons per day of fresh water and stop the ongoing dumping of oil wastewater into our aquifers. California’s aquifers are crucial and must be protected in order to save and store water for the future," said Scow.

Reverend Jeremiah King helped establish Block 27, a "colored section" within the Stockton Rural Cemetery in 1861. Rev. King and many other early Stockton pioneers have a final resting place within the "park-like" community resource. At the close of the US Civil War, a desire for proper dignity and respect for all fallen soldiers became what we call today Memorial Day. Together we celebrate the Sesquicentennial and design plans to preserve an amazing living legacy for another 150 years. Ge...

“Medicine Lake is a sacred place and it needs to be protected at all costs,” said Pit River Tribal Chairman Mickey Gemmill. “We’re trying to preserve our culture and Medicine Lake is part of the beginning of our people. If we allow these corporations to come in and frack, we could lose that chance to bring back that part of our culture. So we’re asking the Calpine Corporation to step back and leave the Medicine Lake Highlands alone.”

Reheis-Boyd's leadership role in creating "marine protected areas" at the same time she was leading the campaign to eviscerate California and Oregon's environmental laws is one of the biggest conflict of interest stories in the state's history, but the corporate media and many "alternative" media outlets refuse to cover it.
That is undoubtedly because Big Oil controls the state's politicians and political processes - and has inordinate influence over the media. The oil industry is the mos...
