textLife Under the Klan Wasn't This Bad: Gitmo on the Mississippi by CounterPunch (reposted)
Sometimes the injustices here in New Orleans leave me numb. But the continuing debacle of our criminal justice system inspires in me a sense of indignation I thought was lost to cynicism long ago. Ursula Price, a staff investigator for the indigent defense organization A Fighting Chance, has met with several thousand hurricane survivors who were imprisoned at the time of the hurricane, and her stories chill me "I grew up in small town Mississippi," she tells me. "We had the Kla...

textBlack Cuisine in the Bayview by Francisco Da Costa
Black Cuisine celebrated its 25th Anniversay in the Bayview and drew a good crowd both from the neighborhood and far off places. With the dawn of an event such as the recent power grab by SF Redevelopment it is the culture of the neighborhood that one has to be aware of. SFRA are greedy and culture really does not matter to these scumbags. What matters to them is money and they will do anything to grab land and make money. Even destroy a good culture....

Wednesday's 'Save Our Languages' rally marks a second consecutive ...

textNegro Removal a reality in Bayview Hunters Point under Mayor Newsom by Francisco Da Costa
The thugs came out of the woods and testified that jobs would be given to them on a platter as they vouched for San Francisco Redevelopment Agency (SFRA) and Mayor Newsom. It was interesting to hear Michael Cohen vouch that Mayor Newsom and Supervisor Sophie Maxwell approved the SFRA decision to declare over 2500 acres in the Bayview prime land to developed using Eminent Domain as the tool. It does not matter under Mayor Newsom who suffers....

textAccusations of anti-semitic chic are poisonous intellectual thuggery by EI (reposted)
If the past few weeks have demonstrated anything, it is the frequency with which allegations of anti-semitism surface in modern political debate. Ken Livingstone, the Church of England and The Guardian (over articles comparing Israel and apartheid) are the most recent to find themselves in the firing line. This is the backdrop against which an unofficial parliamentary inquiry on anti-semitism under former Foreign Office minister Denis McShane concludes its hearings in Westminster today....
