SAN FRANCISCO (May 1, 2007) - Thousands of immigrants and supporters marched for "Amnesty Now" today as part of a national day of action. Courage to Resist was out telling folks about an upcoming tour of Latino Iraq veterans turned resisters. The Northern California tour includes a San Francisco event Sunday, May 13 at the Veterans War Memorial Building (401 Van Ness Ave.) at 7pm. See below for more info....

Like the May Day Immigration Protests that rocked the political establishment last year, yesterday’s march from Dolores Park to Civic Center was truly beautiful – as hundreds of Latino families marched to demand an end to the ICE Raids and amnesty for undocumented workers. OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2007) – Tens of thousands marched for immigrant rights today. Immigrants in the Central Valley took to the streets by the tens of thousands to protest both measures, which are called comprehensive immigration reform. Reports are in that hundreds gathered in both Berkeley and Oakland, and thousands more gathered in San Jose and San Francisco's Dolores Park for afternoon marches. Four simultaneous marches will depart from: 1) Iglesia Santa Maria; 2) Cesar Chavez Park; 3) Iglesia Cristo Rey; and 4) Parque El Dorado. These marches will join at corner of Alisal St. and Sanborn Rd. and march together to the rally site (Constitution BLVD Soccer Complex, at the corner of Constitution BLVD and Laurel Dr. All marches begin at 12pm....
