Things have been busy in Italy with 20'000 pheasants and 6 rabbits liberated as well as Zoolanda (pet shop) owners cars and zoo construction machinery sabotaged. In Spain as the HLS march arrived at Novartis HQ a group of masked activists smashed a CCTV camera, windows and spray-painted the walls. Also three goats rescued in California and abuses locks glued in the west of the UK....

The Australian Government has released graphic photos of whales being slaughtered by the Japanese whaling fleet to the media, with Japan threatening a diplomatic complaint. The Australian Government has also extended the mission of the Oceanic Viking in documenting the whale slaughter in preparation for an international legal case against Japanese whaling....

Last weekend in Yellowstone, I witnessed buffalo being forced off the road by a snow plow, one young bison taking a very scary fall in the snow drifts. Being part of this horrifying scene put in the perspective of other ironies leads me to ponder the sad moment, a change that requires something so mammoth and yet so small, one that has nothing to do with Barack Obama and everything to do with recognizing the moment to give space and when we must cross double yellow lines in order to do so....

Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has criticised Greenpeace for using the Whaling issue to raise funds without an ongoing commitment to continue harassing the whaling fleet in the Southern Ocean for the rest of the whaling season - about 2 months. The Greenpeace Esperanza has abandoned the whaling fleet and is presently en route to Hobart to refuel with no intention to return to the Southern Ocean this season....

The Greenpeace ship Esperanza, that has been shadowing the Nisshin Maru whaling factory ship for more than two weeks in a pursuit of more than 4300 nautical miles in the Southern Ocean, has been forced to abandon the chase due to needing to return to port to refuel....
