Schwarzenegger Terminates Form of Animal Cruelty
Demonstrating he truly cares about the welfare of animals, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today signed SB 1520 into law, a bill that bans the force feeding of ducks and geese in the production of foie gras. The bill also bans the sale of the product when made from force fed birds, both provisions taking effect in California in the year 2012....

Outsourcing Of Jobs At Valero Refinery
Valero has contracted with Altair Strickland to provide refractory services at the Valero Refinery in Benicia. Altair Strickland chose to use Diamond Refractory based out of Texas. Diamond Refractory will be employing a workforce from Texas to perform the service instead of utilizing members of the local community. The UNION press conference will be held at 1 pm, Monday Sept. 13 (this coming Monday) in front of the Hall of Justice in Fairfield.
Hall of Justice is at 600 Union Avenue.
