Wintu Unhappy with CALFED about Shasta dam raising
Government boreocratic failures decades old failed to recognize Wintu tribal status, refuse to correct their mistake. Now the lack of tribal status could prevent the Wintu from effective opposition to the proposed CAL-FED raising of Shasta dam that would flood sacred spiritual sites along the McCloud River.....

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal protection organization, today commended California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for signing S.B. 1520, which bans the force feeding of ducks and geese for pate de foie gras production and prohibits the sale of products resulting from that process....

Arnold Schwarzenegger today signed SB 1520 into law, a bill that bans the force feeding of ducks and geese in the production of foie gras.
